3 Effective Ways to Break Through the Brain Fog
We’ve all experienced brain fog in one form or another. This may be a
lack of mental clarity or concentration. There are many things that
cause brain fog, too. It may be related to a lack of sleep, poor
nutrition, reduced physical activity, and even hormonal imbalances in
the body. The list goes on!
However, with all the things that
may cause brain fog, there are many things you can do to break through
it. One big thing you can do is pay close attention to your nutrition.
Even adding something as simple as spirulina tablets
(yes, algae) may make a significant difference. Here’s how adding
spirulina and making some other changes can help when you experience
brain fog.
Taking on Brain Fog with Proper Nutrition
For many people, the cause of their brain fog can be traced to what
they eat (or don’t). Poor nutrition can influence the brain in many
ways, including causing brain fog. Highly processed foods containing
large amounts of sugars, fats, and carbs can leave you tired and
struggling to think clearly. Skipping meals entirely can have a similar
effect (or worse).
Highly nutritious foods, on the other hand,
can promote mental clarity and improved concentration. This includes
algae tablets, like whole-food spirulina supplements.
Spirulina and chlorella are packed with several nutrients, like
protein, essential fatty acids, and much more. You can even replace
meals with algae tablets because they're that nutritionally dense!
Other brain-nourishing foods can include:
- Fish high in essential fatty acids (ex: salmon, mackerel, sardines)
- Dark leafy greens (ex: broccoli, kale, spinach)
- Dark berries (ex: blueberries, blackberries, raspberries)
- Certain nuts and seeds (ex: walnuts, chia, flax)
Get Ahead of Brain Fog by Getting a Good Night’s Rest
Sometimes, getting quality sleep is easier said than done. If you’re
regularly dealing with brain fog, it’s time to look hard at what might
be disrupting your sleep and what you can do about it. One of the big
sleep disruptors is the screen. TVs, laptops, tablets, smartphones, you
name it; they’re all possible culprits.
Looking at a screen,
even with the brightness turned all the way down, can disrupt our
ability to fall asleep and get quality sleep. Replace your screen with
something else an hour before bed. A book, an e-reader (with an e-ink
display), or a magazine can be a great alternative. You can also go the
audio route with a podcast or audiobook. Just no screens.
Increase Your Physical Activity to Decrease Your Brain Fog
Another thing you can do to break through the brain fog is to increase
your physical activity. It can be as simple as taking a 30-minute walk
every day (or a series of shorter walks adding up to 30 minutes if your
day is hectic). Of course, you can also go for a run, a bike ride, a
swim, or get in a workout at the gym.
The goal is to get more
physical activity in one way or another. Moving for at least 30 minutes a
day can benefit your brain in many ways, such as improving mental
clarity and concentration. Even better, get physical activity outside
under the sun. You might find your brain fog evaporates in no time!
